Erith Yacht Club New Year Sail 2009
On the 4th January 2009 about 20 dinghies braved the cold weather and set sail from Erith Yacht Club bound for Greenhithe. There were about 20 dinghies, with visitors from Stubbers and the London docks. With many crews having to chip the ice from their boats before setting it was a true test to see who were the real rufty tufty sailors. We carried the last of the ebb tide down to Greenhithe and lay the dinghies on buoys while the safety boats ferried everyone ashore for a meal in the pub. Folllowing the meal there was a gentle beat back home against the light NW breeze for a warm up aboard the EYC Clubship Folgefonn.
