How to get best value from the EYC Website

The Club website is aimed at two audiences, members and non members. The Club home page is the best entrance portal for non members, be they prospective members, visitors from other Yacht Clubs or anyone interested in what EYC has to offer. It tells them about the things we do, how to join, information for visiting yachts etc. It does of course have links to the whole of the rest of our site.

The best page for members to enter the site is the Club News page http://www.erithyachtclub.org.uk/clubnews.htm and we recommend you book mark this page rather than the home page. The Club News page is the page which is most frequently updated. At the top of the page will be the latest things which have been added, usually updates and details on forthcoming events at the Club.

We aim to keep this page as up to date as we can and information will go up as soon as the webmasters receive it. Most important notices that go on the Club notice boards will also be here so if you can't get down to the Club, this is the place to look. We aim to have the site updated at least weekly, more frequently if important information is sent to us. The Club News page has exactly the same links to the rest of the site that are found on the Home page. Remember if you have any information which will be of value to members send it to us and we will put it up on the Club News page.

You can always tell when the site has been updated, on the top right of each page is a "Site Updated" link showing the date the site was last updated, if you click this link it will take you to a page where we log all changes so you can tell what has been added.

Every page has two rows of 'Club Burgees' at the top, all these are links which can be clicked to take you to any page on the site. We put the most commonly used links here. There is one Burgee labeled 'more options' which brings up a second row of burgees with links to the remainder of pages on the site.

Remember in addition to background information and news about the Club the site contains the sailing programme, recent racing results and race reports. We have access to current tide tables, there is an adverts page where we will put adverts if members e-mail them to us We have an "our boats" section which tells you about boats in the Club (if you would like to see your boat up there send us some information and a picture and up it will go). We have a sailing links page which includes links to many other sites which we feel may be relevant or interesting to EYC members, if you know of any others please let us know. There is a members only area where you will find information on committee members and minutes you can also review the Officer of the Day and Cleaning rotas to check when it is next your turn.

The site belongs to the Club which belongs to the members so we are continually trying to add information that will be of use and interest to members. There is a wealth of experience in the Club and the site will be improved if we can draw on that for content rather than rely on the limited competence of the webmasters. If you have any news information, articles or photographs (good photographs of recent Club Events are always welcome) which could enhance the site please send it to us and we will consider it for possible inclusion on the site.
