Information for visiting yachts

The Club welcomes visiting yachtsmen and yachtswomen and can provide a useful stop off for those running out of tide on a trip up to the London docks. We normally have some boats away cruising or ashore so there will ususally be some free moorings. The morings are laid for yachts up to 35 feet in length, any bigger yachts should anchor above the moorings, inside the lighter roads. The bottom is mud and you will find good holding there. There is also plenty of space for shallower yachts to anchor below the EYC moorings. You are welcome to land on the club causeway but should introduce yourself to a member as soon as possible. The Club is 'open' on Sundays and Thursday evenings and you can be signed into the visitors book on the Clubship, however there will be members at the Club most of the time. The Club has a water tap (behind the causeway winch) where cans can be filled. At high water it is possible to bring a yacht alongside the clubship and fill water tanks by hose but this must be done by arrangement. The Club has diesel for sale, when the club is open a member should be able to provide access and cans can be filled. There is a toilet and shower block at the top of the causeway. Access to the town from the Club is limited, we have security gates which will be open on Sundays but at other times you will require a member to let you through. If you have a dinghy and outboard it is a fairly short trip upriver to the Town Causeway. Morrisons supermarket is two minutes walk from here where supplies can be obtained. Morrisons also have a cash machine and a petrol station. There are no Yacht Chandlers at Erith the nearest is Danson Marine in Blackfen about 4 miles away. They are well stocked and a member at the Club would be able to advise how to get there for emergency requirements.

Obviously all yachts navigating the London River must comply with the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, some of these are varied by the PLA Bylaws, copies of which are produced below for your information. Also please refer to the General Directions.
