What an amazing turn out!  With over 40 people on the water and more who turned up at the Sir John Franklin for lunch, it was certainly a very successful day.

Despite the overcast and (initially) blustery conditions, people were not put off from getting togged up and rigging their boats.  A thorough briefing beforehand helped people understand what was expected of them and all seemed to progress smoothly.  The boats had to tack down Long Reach, experiencing some pretty hefty gusts, but they arrived in good order at Greenhithe with only one excitment when a Keel capsized and the crew found themselves swimming.  However, the vigilent safety cover soon sorted them out.

The sail back had a perfect wind direction for using spinnakers, although at least one member complained the wind had dropped!!  The bar was open when the happy and slightly chilly sailors got back to Erith Yacht Club.  A few photographs can be found on the EYC Facebook Page.

Thank you to Ed for organising the water-side and to Hugh for sorting and coordinating the food side.  The publican at the Sir John Franklin was very welcoming and they did us proud.  Thanks also to the safety crews who shepherded the boats and generally looked after everyone.

BRASS MONKEY Series, 2016

Yes, we are planning for next year!!  Use this as pre season training, a reason to check your boat works, and a cheeper option than going to the gym to work off the Christmas excess......!!!!!  It is light-hearted racing so everyone is welcome, and members can hire the club boats too for a nominal fee.

While the dinner may be a waiting list, there is always time to come along to the Panto at about 3pm, although get there early to have a drink and catch up with friends before Christmas.

The Panto is an insight into the mind of our resident playwrite, scribe, wit, pontificator and raconteur, Mr Michael Kemp!!!!  Come along to support him and his band of wayward thespians as they tread the boards for our amusment.

There will be music and dancing too, so don't be shy.....bring your newly discovered Strickly talent and get on the dance floor :-)

GRAHAM TAYLOR Single-hander Race - Sunday 11 October

A few spaces have come available for the dinner, so members are welcome to come along and enjoy a really excellent evening with another 130+ sailors. It is a time when sailors come together to 'Remember Nelson' and reminice about our own times together on the water.
